A grand look for a grand school.

Le Grand Cerf public vocational school received the Colorful Communities treatment when more than 50 volunteers spent three days revitalizing the school's lobby and adjacent outdoor area by painting walls and furniture, installing new flooring and plainting flowers. Wi-Fi-enabled areas were also added for the school's students and faculty to use while eating lunch, taking a break and working.

More than 30 PPG employees from the European headquarters, including numerous members of the executive leadership team, brought color to the park and playground used by visitors of Rolle Castle. They painted the swings and other equipment, as well as added a hopscotch board for kids and a mural to brighten the outside of the building.

More than 125 employees spent 560 hours beautifying the 18th century Villa Arconati - FAR, often considered Italy's imagining of Louis XIV's Versailles in France. The Fondazione Augusto Rancilio was a partner for the project and assisted with restoring the historic villa's iron facade and garden.

Graffiti art is the focal point of the Quattordio Urban Art Project. PPG employees worked with renowned artist, Kool Koor, on the mural that brightened the wall outside the local PPG facility.

Cieszyn’s city center was beautified through the addition of colorful mural art to one of its walls. With help from city authorities, PPG was also able to sponsor the first-ever Mur Art festival of murals, which included a contest for artists to submit ideas showcasing the area’s heritage, traditions or legends.

Everyone loves a free ride.

If you’re a kid, the only thing more exciting than a new bike is a free, new bike painted in your favorite color. That’s what happened to 35 lucky elementary school students, including 15 Syrian refugees, thanks to the efforts of PPG volunteers, Turkish Red Crescent and ACCEL Bisiklet.

Brighter maternity department hallways in the Jahn Ferenc Hospital in Budapest, Hungary, and fresh, inspiring images of motherhood will make childbirth an even more joyful event for 5,000 mothers a year thanks to the efforts of more than 30 volunteers.

More than 30 employees in Soborg, Denmark, spent two days adding shelter and seating to the outdoor parkour area of the City’s Arena. The goal was to encourage movement and play amongst the young residents of the adjacent Hoje Gladsaxe housing project.

To celebrate a milestone for the local Children’s Hospital, PPG volunteers joined a local auxiliary to refresh the gardens and transform the building’s massive, gray iron fence into a colorful welcoming portal.

Art students need an inspiring environment. And that’s exactly what the students at the art-focused University of Valenciennes in France got with a painting project that revitalized the school’s exhibition hall and refreshed its grounds PPG volunteers even pitched in to help students collect recycled plastic materials for their first exhibit in the newly-painted hall.

The Friends of Batley Station wanted to make their railway station more welcoming to visitors to this PPG community in Batley, England. With the help of PPG volunteers, revitalization brightened the station’s frontage, cafe and community area, and subway, including a colorful mural showcasing the town.

This educational and social center for kids 6-14 received a dramatic facelift that included dazzling bright wall colors, painted stairways, and wall murals that featured kids’ art. Volunteers spent weekends painting, gardening, playing with the kids, and helping them learn.

Two Moscow-area schools — a secondary school and a boarding school for disabled children — benefited from a facelift that revitalized their classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums and building exteriors.

No matter where they sit in this middle school stadium in Kunshan, China, all sports fans will have great seats thanks to a colorful makeover of the bleachers and walls. The 200+ volunteers and attendees to this project included local government officials, media, PPG families and school faculty.

The construction site of the Children’s Hospital in Clayton, Victoria, Australia, was a brighter and happier place after being decked out with murals painted by PPG volunteers and local primary school students. Once the building was completed, the murals were moved inside to continue bringing sunshine and cheer to the hospital’s patients.

“I love school!” was the theme for the ten-foot high rainbow centerpiece of a colorful, playful project that decorated a playground wall at Zhangjiagang Nansha Primary School in China. Students from the school took part in the day’s festivities by dressing in animal costumes, adorning the wall with bright abstract nature images, and smiling…a lot.

It was fun to work alongside colleagues and family members to paint colorful murals and decorate the walls of the center. Busan’s hillside Gamchun Cultural Village is famous for the brilliantly-hued wall murals that decorate its streets and buildings, so it was a natural fit for a Colorful Communities project that added a vibrant mural to the area’s main child care center.

Fanciful woodland scenes of birds, trees and meadows adorn the walls of this primary school in Shanghai, part of a project that helped refurbish the campus. Volunteers completed the project by joining the students and faculty to celebrate Children’s Day.

“Whare Koa” means “Happy House” in Maori and that’s just what the Whare Koa Mangere Community House has been to the area’s Maori and Pasifika people for more than 80 years. The facility offers a soup kitchen, church services, youth groups, counseling and health and fitness classes to area residents. A volunteer project involving more than 300 people helped restore the building to reflect the bright and colorful traditions of the people who call it their second home.

The historic building that holds State Street Project, a youth empowerment center, was brought back to life by 35 employee volunteers and 90 gallons of paint. With help from paint professionals from Neighborhood Painting, the lobby, hallway, classrooms and lockers were rejuvenated and beautified. Additionally, a financial contribution will allow the center to fund a 10-week summer program for up to 100 inner-city students to learn about STEM concepts.

"ColoColorfAbout 40 volunteers used 190 gallons of paint to protect and beautify the exterior of Second Harvest of Puerto Rico, a foodbank that serves 123,000 people annually. To celebrate the project, the city's mayor's office proclaimed the day "Colorful Communities Day." The organization was further supported through a financial donation to its backpack program, which supports more than 300 food-insecure children in the area.

Constitution Hall at the Alabama Constitution Village is considered to be the birthplace of Alabama. A group of 50 volunteers – which included PPG employees and family members, team members of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama, and employees of the EarlyWorks Family of Museums that operates Alabama Constitution Village – painted, gardened and landscaped to prepare the facility for its bicentennial celebration.

For two days, 41 employees, retirees and family members worked at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Cleveland to freshen up the facility’s kitchen, dining room and hallways. In addition to hosting a potluck dinner and bingo night for the patients, employees also donated many needed supplies to ensure the lodge is well-stocked. The Cleveland plant provided approximately $5,000 in supplies, including 48 gallons of PPG PAINTS™ products, for this project.

Employees from our industrial coatings facility in Oak Creek worked with members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades to bring color and brightness to Hope House of Milwaukee, whose mission is to end homelessness in the community. The organization gives immediate shelter to those in need, while also giving individuals the tools needed to get back on their feet through educational programs.

Discovery World in Milwaukee is a leader in out-of-school learning experiences. Its Reiman Aquarium was revitalized to better feature its many freshwater species from around the world, such as frogs, an alligator, a snapping turtle and fish from Asia, Africa and South America.

Nearly 200 students at the Propel Hazelwood School have a bright and inspiring learning environment thanks to fresh coats of paint in cheerful colors such as Red Gumball and Rainbow Bright. The ONEgeneration Senior Enrichment Center serves seniors in California’s San Fernando Valley with everything from hot lunches and classes to social events and day care. When the multipurpose room at its Reseda facility needed a facelift, Emily was one of more than 30 volunteers who stepped in to make sure the work was completed.

About 100 volunteers, including PPG Comex concessionaries, teachers and parents of students at DIF Capullos, increased the capacity of the school's sensory room, which is designed to address the needs of students with autism. They also painted the room in bright colors like blue, green and yellow.

The Kinder Integration Center of Special Children, which cares for more than 300 babies, children and adolescents, is looking brighter thanks to the 30 volunteers and 350 liters of PPG paint product. “For children, adolescents, their families and employees who spend a good part of their days in the institution, a warm and colorful environment makes the treatment routine lighter,” said Márcio Grossmann, general manager, PPG Latin America South & event volunteer.

DIF Capullos has the tough job of sheltering more than 300 children who have suffered abuse, family violence or abandonment. The goal of the 100 volunteers who brought a Colorful Communities project to the facilities was to keep the children’s spirits up while they recover by revitalizing the auditorium, library, computer center and classrooms.

Volunteers joined hearts and hands to waterproof the exterior building and painting interior classrooms and dormroom at Children and Adolescents in Harmony, a Guadalajara school that serves the educational, social and developmental needs of low-income, young women and girls.

Where there was a blank wall, now there’s hope.

The 30 children living at the Bethel orphanage in Sonora, Mexico, wake up to a daily reminder of the charitable organization’s hope and compassion: a colorful mural painted by Mexican artist Jose Manuel Gómez González with help from the Bethel kids. It was all part of a Colorful Communities project that included painting, repairs and a party for the children.

The Instituto Angel de la Guarda, A.C. was the first organization in Mexico to benefit from an employee-led COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project. More than 50 PPG-Comex employees used PPG-Comex products to paint the walls, external fences and general infrastructure of the facility, which has helped children with special capabilities for almost 50 years. About 150 students, teachers and parents were positively impacted.

The Children’s Cancer Institute is a special place. All under one roof, it provides children with medical  treatment, testing, and health support for needs including psychological, nutritional and dental.
